Question by drums626: Is it bad to put moisturizer in your hair?
I heard that putting a moisturizer such as lubriderm or St. Ives in your hair can help keep down curly hair and make it more manageable. I’m worried that it is harmful to your hair. Thanks for your responses everyone!

Hydrating moisturizers are indispensable especially if you have dry skin. If the skin lacks essential moisture, the collagen fibers and skin tissues that make it up can get damaged quickly.
If you havent found the right moisturizing cream yet, you can try the following helpful buying tips:
1. Look for products with more effective emollient ingredients.
All moisturizing creams can keep your skin hydrated. But can those products work in keeping you skin well-hydrated for a longer period of time? There are products that only work for a few hours. In addition to that, they do not penetrate deeply into the skin.
What you should look for are products with effective emollient ingredients like Manuka honey. Honey is a moisturizing agent. But the Manuka type of honey from New Zealand is a more potent kind. It has humectant properties that can hydrate all the layers of the skin and can mimic the moisture-producing functions of the skin.
2. The moisturizing cream should solve the cause of skin dryness.
Dont look for products that can only keep your skin dewy. Make sure the product can also cure the cause of skin dryness. I suggest looking for an ingredient called Phytessence Wakame.
This is a kind of Japanese sea kelp that prevents the sudden loss of hyaluronic acid. This acid is responsible for the moisturization of collagen fibers. It keeps the inner layers of the dermis moist and properly nourished.
3. It should also keep your skin young and healthy.
Your moisturizer should work in supporting the youthful functions of your integumentary system. Look for the ingredient CynergyTK. This ingredient is an ideal source of functional keratin.
Keratin is the complex protein needed by the skin for the regeneration of collagen fibers. As you get older, your skins production of collage can dwindle. This is why you need moisturizers to supply keratin in order to prevent collagen loss.
4. Stay away from moisturizing products with additives.
Natural and organic moisturizing creams are better for your skin. Your dermis can really benefit from those products. In addition to that, there are no additives that might harm the health of your body.
5. It should contain cleansing oils.
Jojoba oil is a useful cleansing oil. It can strip away cosmetic residues on your skin. Furthermore, it works well in keeping the skin properly hydrated. This is a good ingredient if cleansing your skin deeply is not possible at the moment.
And now I would like to invite you to visit http://www.goodhealthyskin.com to find out which are the anti aging products you should use in order to achieve clearer and radiant looking skin.

I like using mosturizer in my hair, it kind of relaxes it and makes it look a bit healthier, especially since its probably fried by now because I straigten it too much. Its not harmful whatsoever, just keep it away from your roots, so that it doesn’t look oily. And remember, don’t use too much of it either, that will give the oily look as well.
there is nothing wrong with using moisturizer. I t makes your hair healthy and keeps it growing. I suggest you use a light weight and non greasy moisturizer.
well what i do is on the back of the moisturizer look for ph in the ingrediants if it says it has ph balance then that is what you want it is kinda spendy but it is awesome it stops build up of chemicals it is in shampoo and conditioner so maybe if you get that you wont need to use moistureizer
It’s a great way to control frizz. Just don’t overdo it. You don’t want to look like you don’t wash your hair

I just ordered the moisturizer from acne.org. I can use this moisturizer with cetaphil face wash and any 2.5% BP and still get the same results right?
@mojomatt176 thanks! well, i don’t know how much moisturizer you use now, but there are wonderful videos on youtube here that explain how to properly apply moisturizer on your face, if you have acne. Check them out! Also, remember to contact a dermatologist if you ever have other questions on skin care, thanks again!
You’re full of shit. This guy has probably never had acne in his life and he’s just using other peoples skin disorders as a way to make money and sell his products. Seriously, you guys have been scammed.
@fembotprincess Thanks! I managed to get clear on Dan’s Regimen and after much work I’m finally flake-free…but I do moisturize quite often so I guess I might cut back on the amount of moisturizer I use.
@mojomatt176 Thanks for your reply, I just received your question and wanted to answer you. From what i understand from my readings, over-moisturizing can slow down your skin’s natural shredding process, whether you use a non-comedogenic moisturizer or not. Therefore, skin cells that are “dead” will have a harder time coming off your skin and get “trapped” on your skin surface and your skin won’t clear up as well or as fast. It is never good to overdo anything anyway. Hope this helps.
@fembotprincess How is overmoisturizing bad with a non-comedogenic moisturizer?
i use 2 PUMPS, and have no itchy dry skin, would recommend everyone to use 2 pumps, ive seen improvments 2.
after i put on the moisturizure it started peeling off, so i washed it off,is that what you should do or should you just leave it?……….And how long after applying moisturizure should you wait before applying erythomycin?? please respond
LOL..SO SHINEY..I HATE HAVING A SHINEY FACE
Also, as an aside to my last comment, Dan’s videos are very good because he gives great tips and has many effective methods to help clear acne. However, if your acne isn’t clearing up and you’ve tried every method, or if acne seems to be getting worse, you should probably see a dermatologist. they can diagnose the problem and recommend a good, effective treatment., with follow up appts. every six months or so to see if his/her regimen is still working for you skin.
Moisturizing is a beauty must. Using a moisturizer containing an SPF of 15 or more during the day is also important to protect against harmful UV rays from the sun which can possibly lead to skin cancer. (At night, you should use a light NON-SPF lotion, though). Also,OVER moisturizing is as bad as not moisturizing at all. (You also don’t want to clog pores). You should use a non-comedogenic moisturizer if you have acne. And even when your face clears up, you’ll need to moisturize.
@rockmas moisturizer will help some. but try and eat TONS of vitamin A (carrots)-this will help the most!
(also use an exfoliating scrub as well maybe)
after you moisturize does your skin still look that ”shinny” ?
I wish not…
…
